A 26-year-old man was arrested this Monday on suspicion of murdering his 73-year-old aunt in Peniche last Friday.
According to the judicial police, the suspect went to the victim’s house and demanded money. However, when his aunt refused, the nephew “violently attacked her using a cloth that was wrapped around her neck, causing her to die of suffocation.
Also, according to the SP, after the murder was completed, the suspect appropriated “various property of the victim, leaving the house where the events took place.”
The victim was found dead at home on Monday.
During the investigation, the SP returned part of the stolen property.
The detainee, who has no criminal record, will be brought before a criminal judge this Wednesday for a judicial interrogation and the application of coercive measures.
