At least 46 Chinese have been arrested in Luanda, Angola, on suspicion of secretly running a virtual casino where they controlled more than 400 online games to defraud players, mostly Brazilians and Nigerians, a police source said on Wednesday.
According to the Angolan Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), the criminal network controlled more than 400 online games played only by Brazilians, located in several cities in Brazil, and one game played only by Nigerian players.
The suspects, using fake online profiles, committed several frauds and defrauded players of thousands of reals, the SIC stressed.
The operation was carried out by the Central Operations Directorate, the National Cybercrime Directorate and the Organized Crime Directorate of the Angolan police agency.
