The 84-year-old driver who designed the car and fatally shot 78-year-old Manuel Pedro on Saturday in Albergaria dos Doze, Pombal, will be charged with aggravated murder and will appear in court this Monday for questioning. “It was a 30-year-old quarrel, he was chasing me and I ran him over with my car,” the suspect told people who approached him after the confrontation, which took place in the square near his home in Rua da Charter.
The incident was initially investigated by the GNR, but once evidence of a crime was discovered, the case was transferred to the Central Judicial Police, which arrested the suspect on Saturday evening. Before the fatal collision, there had been an argument between the men, as there were traces of blood on the suspect’s face and in the victim’s car. Manuel Pedro lived with his wife and grandson in Cartaria.
