The Viseu-Aveiro direction of the A25 motorway remains cut off in the Vouzela area due to work to recover a truck that crashed shortly before 9:00 am on Monday, a GNR source said.
A heavy load carrying birds lost its way and fell onto a road in the Confulcos region (Cambra parish and Carvalhal de Vermilhas).
“It is necessary to level the truck, remove the animals,” and then the car and trailer, explained a source in the GNR, who has three patrols on site.
He added that the work is “continuing”, there are no forecasts yet when traffic on this road will resume.
A source from Viseu Dão Lafões Sub-Regional Command told Lusa that the search victim, initially described as mild, was taken to hospital, where his condition is said to be serious.
A total of 16 operators and six vehicles of volunteer firefighters from Wuzel, GNR and Ascendi are on site.
