Brazil’s Federal Supreme Court (STF) ruled on Monday evening to release 102 people suspected of participating in violent anti-democratic actions perpetrated by the Bolsonarists on January 8 and being held in Brasilia, local media reported.
The issuance of release permits, revealed by G1 and CNN Brasil, was determined by STF Judge Alexandre de Moraes in secret trials as part of a motion pending before the court to investigate cases related to an attempted coup by supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro in the Brazilian capital , culminating in the invasion and vandalism of the buildings of the executive, legislative and judicial branches.
While the records of these trials are protected by secrecy of justice, procedural progress in the court’s online system makes it possible to see clearances for release.
