A 47-year-old man suspected of killing his brother in Vila Poca de Aguiar on Sunday was taken into custody after a court hearing on Tuesday, a Judicial Police (PJ) source told Lusa news agency.
According to the same source, the 47-year-old farmer was heard on Tuesday in the court of Vila Poca de Aguiar, district of Vila Real, against whom the most serious measure of coercion, preventive detention, was applied.
On Monday, the SP announced the arrest of a 47-year-old man suspected of killing his brother with a firearm and “for vain reasons” in the municipality of Vila Pouca de Aguiar.
The SP statement said that the farmer was “seriously charged” with the murder and that the facts occurred on Sunday on a public road in the Vila Poca de Aguiar area, when the accused, for “useless reasons”, fired a firearm at the body of the victim , a 58-year-old man, leading to his death.
According to information collected by Lusa on the spot, the aggressor is the victim’s brother, both lived in Airiz, Vreia de Bornes district, and the crime took place on land near the town of Sabroso de Aguiar, a city in the municipality of Vila Pouca de Aguiar.
A source from GNR’s Vila Real Territorial Command told Lusa on Sunday that the Guards received a warning at 6:20 p.m. about a family dispute over land that could be related to firearms.
According to the GNR, one of the men was wounded from a firearm, he was also assisted by a medical team, but the death was pronounced on the spot.
The alleged aggressor, according to the Guard, was detained by people, handed over to the military, and then to the SP Vila Real, investigating the case.
The identification and arrest were carried out in cooperation with the National Republican Guard of Vila Poca de Aguiar.
