Police in Schattdorf, a Swiss commune in the canton of Uri, have arrested a 40-year-old Portuguese man suspected of raping dozens of goats and sheep, local press reports.
The zoophilous predator was first reported in April 2022. He was caught at the scene of the crime by a farmer, with whom he got into a fight and managed to escape, but there was no police record of his detention.
The police continued their investigation, collecting statements from other shepherds whose flocks were attacked, and last Saturday a man was again caught raping a sheep. This time, he was spotted by a surveillance camera and detained by the police. The veterinarian found that two sheep in this herd showed signs of rape.
