Local Greek authorities have accused the head of the Larisa station, near which the collision that killed 47 people, was negligently homicide, according to EFE.
The 59-year-old defendant is charged with crimes that can range from 10 years in prison to life imprisonment.
The stationmaster admitted the mistake after being detained on Wednesday. Two trains – a freight train and a second with 342 passengers – collided on the same rails.
According to the latest data, 46 people died, and another ten were missing.
In recent days, the Greeks have demonstrated against the transport company and against the government. This Thursday, the railway workers went on strike and protested against the consistent postponement of the improvement of the railway infrastructure.
