Monica Seidi, who was a member of the regional assembly, will replace Clelio Meneses, who stepped down from his post, citing “purely political reasons”, “irreconcilable differences” and “consistent interference”.
The same source said the inauguration would take place “soon” and clarified that the executive structure would not change, leaving Sadie in charge of health and sports.
The new leader, an internal medicine specialist, was Vice President of the PSD Parliamentary Group in the Legislative Assembly of the Azores between 2016 and 2020.
He is currently Vice President of PSD/Azores and Paramedic for Internal Medicine at Santo Espirito Hospital in Terceira.
This Saturday, Clelio Menezes asked for his resignation as regional health secretary of the Azores government, saying “only political reasons” and “irresolvable differences”, as he told the Lusa news agency.
