“Bakhmut’s Angel”: one of the most beloved paramedics by Ukrainians has died

In recent months, she has crossed paths with dozens of wounded soldiers and civilians, helped many escape, and has come to be known as “Bakhmut’s angel.” According to ABCthis week, while evacuating the wounded, he died after an ambulance in which he was traveling was attacked by Russian soldiers.

The circumstances of the attack are currently unknown, but the Ukrainian press suggests that the shooting may have been carried out by the Wagner group.

Yana Rykhlitskaya was adored by many, and her death was already perceived as “one of the most terrible victims” that the Ukrainian army could suffer on a psychological level. The country’s Ministry of Defense has already commented on the case, considering that the paramedic was “a real heroine, ready to risk her life to help others.”

At a time when Bakhmut is identified as the decisive point of the conflict, several methods have been promulgated that serve as propaganda or a way of psychologically influencing the troops. An example of this was the fact that the Wagner group, less than 24 hours before the celebration of International Women’s Day, decided to “offer” a batch of bottles of champagne from the Bakhmut region to citizens of Ukraine so that they would not be left behind “without gifts.”
