Fake Angolan doctor arrested on suspicion of defrauding more than 200 women who wanted to have a baby

In Luanda, the owner of a medical clinic and an alleged reproductive health specialist have been detained on suspicion of defrauding more than 200 women, the Criminal Investigation Service (CIS) said today.

The SIC press release said that an Angolan citizen aged 36 was arrested on the 1st of this month on charges of skilled fraud, illegal occupation of office and serious violations of physical integrity.

The suspect appears to be a doctor, owns a Daisy Well clinic located in Belas City, downtown Kilamba, and has been involved in illegal activities for more than four years, the note said.

According to the SIC, the alleged doctor claims to be a specialist in gynecology, obstetrics, urology, artificial insemination procedures, in vitro fertilization, and also performs blood tests, vaginal exudate, hydroturbation, egg retrieval and hormone tests.

The surveys were conducted under precarious conditions, as more than 200 women who applied to the clinic for a child were deceived and charged high amounts to achieve this goal over the past four years, the note says.

The amounts charged ranged from 2 million kwanza (€3,724) to 10 million kwanza (€18,620), and for example, 2.6 million kwanza (4,841 euro) were charged for artificial insemination and 4.6 for in vitro fertilization. million. kwanzaa (8,565 euros).

“As for the tests, they cost from 400,000 kwanza (744.8 euros) to 600,000 kwanza (1,117 euros) under the pretext that urine, blood and vaginal exudate tests are sent to England, where the results come from, claiming work in partnership with physicians. from this country, also pretending to work at Maternidade Lucrécia Paim, where he performs the duties of a surgeon, ”the document says.

The SIC emphasized that the alleged doctor had caused various infectious diseases through his illegal activities due to inappropriate dosages of medicines and poor handling of instruments.
