The SRSG Health Ministers approved the Strategic Cooperation Plan until 2027.

The Health Ministers of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) this Thursday approved the Strategic Plan for Health Cooperation until 2027, calling on development partners to step up activities that will make this initiative a reality.

According to the note sent to Lusa, the ATP Health Ministers or their representatives met “on an electronic platform” on the occasion of the IV Extraordinary Meeting of the ATP Health Ministers “to approve the CPLP Strategic Health Collaboration Plan — PECS-CPLP 2023-2027.”

In the communiqué, the Portuguese-speaking ministers of health said that it is “the main tool to guide the CPSG’s health cooperation to strengthen community relations with various development partners.”

Responsible officials call for intensified “efforts to provide PECS-CPLP with financial resources or other forms that allow it to accelerate the implementation of its initiatives.”

In the note, government officials call on “development partners of the SRSG to join efforts to be promoted by Member States and intensify the development of cooperation with the SRSG for the implementation of PECS in the short to medium term.” -KPLP.

The document also highlights the “need for a flexible dialogue between the SRSG and international organizations that play a key role in the health development of member states of the community”, with particular attention to “funding initiatives to combat major diseases such as HIV/AIDS (.. .), malaria and tuberculosis, as well as HIV co-infections and comorbidities such as cervical cancer and hepatitis C.”

Portuguese-speaking officials also announce their goal to “facilitate a roundtable by the end of 2023 to mobilize associate observers and other development partners to implement PECS-CPLP.”

The paper also aims to host a Primary Health Care Conference in Luanda by the end of this year, a One Health/Uma Só Saúde conference in Cape Verde, the 4th meeting of the Portuguese-speaking Institute of Health Assessment in Lisbon, and the 5th Ordinary Meeting of the Network of National Institutes of Public Health — RINSP-CPLP in Maputo.

Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe and Timor-Leste are the nine member states of the SRSG.
