The 95th Academy Awards, which took place early Monday morning, were marked by host Jimmy Kimmel’s humorous moments and emotional speeches.
The big winner of the evening was “Everything From All Sides At Once”, which was voted Best Film and also won in six other categories out of 11 in which it was nominated.
The film, directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, also collected gold statuettes in the categories “Best Actress” (Michelle Yeoh), “Best Supporting Actor” (Ke Hui Quan), “Best Supporting Actress” (Jamie Lee Curtis), ” Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing. and Best Achievement.
Brendan Fraser was named Best Actor for his role in The Whale.
The German film Nothing New To the West was also awarded in five categories. Screenplay by Edward Berger won Best International Film, Best Original Score, Best Sound, Best Cinematography and Best Production Design.
The Portuguese film The Ice Traders by João González was nominated in the Best Short Film category but did not win. Thus, Portuguese cinema was left without a golden statuette.
The ceremony was also livened up with musical moments and emotional speeches from the winners, marked by tributes to women.
