In the early hours of this Tuesday morning, criminals unleashed a wave of attacks on public buildings in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte, in the northeast of Brazil, including the capital Natal, causing fear among the population and forcing the regional government to take action. on the streets with the full force of the security forces. One suspect was killed by police and two others were detained.
The attacks began simultaneously, shortly after midnight local time, at three o’clock this Tuesday in Lisbon, in an apparently deliberate and coordinated move. Public buildings such as courthouses, police stations, and regional and city governments were shot at and, in some cases, set on fire.
In addition to public buildings, shops and banks were attacked in several cities, and cars parked on public roads were burned. The reason for the attacks is still unknown, but such cases are usually carried out by criminal organizations in protest against court decisions, against toughening in penitentiary institutions, or in order to pressure the release of a known crime boss.
The street police have been heavily reinforced and special measures will be taken from Tuesday into Wednesday night to try to avoid a repeat of the attacks. The transport system was unaffected, but if more criminal activity occurred the next morning, it could be suspended so as not to put the population at risk.
