On Tuesday, it was announced that eight taxi drivers aged between 36 and 65 were arrested in Lisbon’s parish of Olivais and Parque da Nasuens on suspicion of committing a speculative crime in February.
A statement from the PSP Metropolitan Command in Lisbon explains that the operation follows another carried out in December, which resulted in the arrest of seven people for the same crime.
According to the PSP, the detainees were already present in the service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Local Instance for Minor Crimes, and some of the detainees have a history of committing this very crime.
Vehicles used to commit offenses were “carefully seized” to prevent a recurrence of offenders, the PSP said in a note.
