Sidney Holmes, 57, was sentenced in April 1989 to 400 years in prison for armed robbery but was exonerated Monday on the grounds of innocence. The man served a 34-year sentence in the main jail of Broward County, Florida.
According to the newspaper daily mail, Sidney Holmes was reportedly seen driving a brown car similar to the one used in the gun robbery. The man was sentenced to 400 years in prison, although in the first case the victim did not identify Sidney as the driver of the car.
The prosecutor in charge of prosecuting Sydney said he asked for a 400-year prison sentence to “make sure [o homem] will not be delivered” while he was alive.
After his release on Monday, Sidney Holmes said he held no grudges. “I just need to move on,” he said.
