This Friday, the GNR dismantled a cannabis production center that operated from a house in the municipality of Redondo, Evora District, and detained the owner on suspicion of drug dealing, security forces said.
The GNR Évora Territorial Command said in a statement that the operation was carried out by members of the Núcleo de Investigação Criminal (NIC) of Évora following a drug trafficking investigation that lasted “about two months”.
During the police operation, according to GNR, a 38-year-old man was arrested, suspected of drug trafficking and that he turned “his own house into a center for the production of cannabis.”
The man “prepared the narcotic product from the stage of sowing, sprouting, drying and packaging for sale to the consumer,” the guard explained.
The military seized 314 cannabis plants, 18 packing boxes, 14 heating lamps, 14 containers of chemicals, 13 extractors, 11 fans and 10 bags of cannabis leaves during a search of the house, according to the GNR.
Also seized were five drying racks, two drying ovens, two heaters, a box of hemp seeds, a precision scale, four mobile phones, two laptops and materials believed to be for growing, packaging and selling the drug.
The suspect is being held at security facilities and will attend the first forensic examination on Saturday at the Redondo Judicial Court for appropriate enforcement action.
