Five young Iranian women have been arrested and forced into perjury after they publicly danced without an Islamic hijab to a song by American singer Selena Gomez.
According to the newspaper Iran International Englishthe video was posted last week, on International Women’s Day, on the social network Instagram, and eventually went viral. The girl who posted the video was forced to delete it and deactivate her page.
Authorities were looking for five girls who were detained for two days and forced to make false confessions.
The dance to the music of “Calm Down” by Rema and Selena Gomez served as the motto of a new form of protest against the Iranian regime.
Young Iranian Mahsa Amini was arrested in Tehran for wearing the hijab incorrectly and eventually died while in police custody.
There is no information about the whereabouts of the girls at the moment.
