The Komarky Praia Court applied preventive detention to three men suspected of being shot more than two years ago by a National Police (NP) agent in the course of reform, the Judicial Police said this Friday.
Cape Verde’s scientific police said in a statement that the arrest of three suspects, aged between 28 and 35, who live in the city of Praia, was made on Thursday outside the scene of the crime, in accordance with a warrant issued by the ministry. Public.
The suspects are charged with co-authorship of the crime of aggravated murder with the use of firearms, as well as assault on physical integrity and weapons.
According to PN, the crime took place on December 16, 2020 in the city of São Tomé, near the old Praia Airport, when a member of the National Police, who had recently gone for repairs, died.
As the Cape Verdean press wrote at the time, a policeman was killed in a robbery.
The detainees were brought before the Praia District Court, which applied pre-trial detention as a measure of coercion.
