Russia confirmed this Saturday its openness to discuss “serious proposals” from the West and Kyiv on a politico-diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, but stressed that it would not tolerate ultimatums.
“We have repeatedly stated that we are open to serious proposals from the West and Ukraine for a political and diplomatic settlement of the crisis, but the language of ultimatums is unacceptable for us,” said Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for Russian diplomacy. The comment is posted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Maria Zakharova stressed that in order to achieve a lasting peace, it is necessary to achieve “the cessation of the supply of weapons and mercenaries to Ukraine, the cessation of hostilities and the return of Ukraine to the status of a neutral country, outside the blocks.”
