The Office of the Public Prosecutor (MP) has charged the President of the Council of Vila Nova de Famalicán with embezzlement in connection with the alleged use of a municipal car for private purposes, Porto’s Attorney General said on Monday.
According to a posting on the prosecutor’s website, the prosecutor’s office found the defendant was charged with using a vehicle owned by the municipality “when traveling between home and place of work.”
The note does not name the defendant, but Luce was told by a court source that she was Estela Veloso, president of the Famalicao and Calendar Union, elected by the PSD/CDS-PP coalition.
In response to Lusa’s question, the mayor said she would not comment “yet”.
The indictment was dated 8 March and was issued by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Department of Investigations and Criminal Affairs of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Braga.
