Guinea-Bissau’s head of diplomacy, Suzy Barbosa, said on Tuesday that the country had “opened a window” to the world with the launch of the Foreign Ministry’s official website.
“We opened a window from Guinea-Bissau to the world, that was what we wanted three years ago. As an expat, I was concerned about getting daily information about my country,” said Susie Barbosa.
The Minister spoke at the presentation ceremony of the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which can be found at www.mne.gw, created in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
On the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guinea-Bissau, you can find information about the actions of the government, about the country’s embassies abroad, as well as news with direct access to the state media.
“Guineans who are abroad can find out through this page what is going on in the daily life of their country. This is an achieved goal, and as a diaspora leader, I think we are providing a service of great public benefit. and allowing the diaspora to approach the country,” he said.
The ceremony was also attended by UNDP Resident Coordinator Tjark Egenhoff, who believed that the page “highlights the importance of the country in the concert of nations”, the work of the government, and “a new and very energetic momentum in the country’s foreign policy”.
“This new portal to the world has two dimensions: one is the presentation of missing information about Guinea-Bissau, and the other is the introspection of Guineans and the diaspora about what is happening here and the ongoing relationship with Guinea-Bissau. Bissau,” said Tjark Egenhoff.
