An autopsy revealed that three sisters found in a nearby lake in Cass, Texas, USA, showed that the girls were strangled before drowning, reports Daily mail.
Authorities initially believed that nine-year-old Zi’Ariel Robinson Oliver, eight-year-old A’Mia Hughes, and five-year-old Te’Marie Robinson Oliver drowned. The bodies were discovered by divers in a nearby lake on July 22 last year.
Cass County District Attorney Courtney Shelton said in a statement Thursday that the girls died of asphyxiation and sustained facial lacerations before drowning.
The authorities, who have been investigating the case for eight months, still have no suspects and do not know the cause of the sisters’ deaths.
Zi’Ariel, A’Miya, and Temari went missing around 22:00 on July 22. The girls stayed with a family friend while their mother, 28-year-old Shommoonik Oliver, worked.
