A 25-year-old man was arrested this Friday on suspicion of eight offenses of qualified fraud through a fictitious rental property in Lisbon. Through the Internet, the detainee rented houses for several days, and then rented them out according to an advertisement made by himself, posing as a rental intermediary or property owner. The suspect even scheduled visits to the apartment and demanded an advance payment of 620 to 2,000 euros.
Having handed over the alleged keys to the apartments to the interested parties, the victims realized that they could not gain access to the house, since the keys were fake. The victims were defrauded of more than ten thousand euros. The arrest warrant was issued after police identified eight simultaneous scams committed by the same person.
Present before the judge, it was decided that he would await trial at large.
