The mother of a child who survived a kindergarten attack in Brazil spoke this Wednesday of the moment she was told of the tragedy. “I threw myself on the ground and cried. I said: “For God’s sake, take me there,” admits Stephanie dos Santos, quoted in globe.
On Wednesday morning, a 25-year-old man armed with an ax killed at least four children at a private kindergarten in the city of Blumenau, Santa Catarina state, in southern Brazil. The suspect initially fled the scene, but turned himself in to authorities seconds later.
One of the teachers locked the children in the bathroom to save them from the attacker. The woman thought it was a robbery. Only later did he realize that the suspect had come with the intent to kill.
