Authorities have already found the bodies of António and Francis Cerqueira, father and daughter, who were pulled by the sea this Thursday afternoon in Praia da Foz in Meco, municipality of Sesimbra. CM. The girl was seven, and the father was about 40.
The warning that two people were stranded in the water on this beach was given at 5:23 p.m., according to a statement from the Maritime Authority. When rescuers arrived at the scene, they found António and the adult Francisca lying on their stomachs in the surf, next to a rock.
Given the difficulty of accessing the site where the bodies were found, a Portuguese Air Force helicopter was deployed to collect them.
“The victims were taken out of the water, and later an INEM doctor pronounced them dead,” the Maritime Administration said in a statement.
The search also involved the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (Sesimbra rescue station), the Maritime Police, Sesimbra firefighters.
The bodies were taken to the Forensic Medicine of Setúbal.
