Secret US and NATO Plans Revealed to Help Ukraine’s Counteroffensive

U.S. government officials have condemned the release of classified documents on social media about U.S. and NATO plans to modernize Ukraine’s armed forces ahead of a planned counteroffensive against Russia. As shown New York TimesThe Pentagon is investigating this security breach that led to the release of highly classified documents on Twitter and Telegram.

In accordance with Seattle Timesmilitary analysts say the documents appear to have been altered, which could be disinformation on the part of Moscow.

“We are aware of the media reports and the department is looking into the matter,” said Sabrina Singh, Assistant Pentagon Press Secretary.Seattle Times.

However, the disclosures in the original documents, which are presented as photographs of forward arms transfer patterns, troop and battalion numbers, and other plans, constitute a serious breach of US intelligence data regarding Ukraine’s aid efforts, The New York Times emphasizes.

He adds that Biden government officials worked on expelling them until Thursday evening, but they were unsuccessful.

“We are aware of reports of social media posts and the Department is looking into the matter,” said Sabrina Singh, Pentagon Under Secretary for Press Affairs.

The documents do not provide specific battle plans or how, when and where Ukraine intends to launch an offensive that US officials say could happen next month.

As the documents are now five weeks old, they give the United States and Ukraine a March 1 view of what Ukrainian forces might need to run the campaign, The New York Times notes.

Analysts said this Friday that it is difficult now and in the coming months to assess the impact of the disclosure of documents.

This alleged leak is the first Russian intelligence breakthrough made public since the start of the war.

Since February 2022, the United States has provided Ukraine with information on command posts, ammunition depots and other important points on Russian military lines, which allowed the Kyiv forces to carry out important offensives, the publication recalls.
