Two people who went missing at sea on the Costa Nova beach in Ilhavo were rescued alive with the help of a jet ski, Conceição Dias, Commander of the Aveiro Port Captaincy, told Luza.
At 15:51, two people, a father and a son, were reported missing, after which the forces present at the scene intervened and were able to save both, the head of the Portuguese Navy added.
“The father, aged about 55, and the son, aged 13, were found, they received medical attention on the spot, they are conscious, but as a precaution they will be sent to the Aveiro hospital,” Conceição Dias added.
Both were rescued “by a jet ski from the Aveiro rescue station, and in the meantime, a rescuer from the preventive team appointed by the city council arrived, after which emergency medical assistance was called,” he continued.
On Thursday, three people died at sea, two on Meco Beach, a father and daughter, and another, 17, on Matosinhos Beach.
