The 58-year-old paramedic was caught on video robbing an elderly woman, 94, who had just died. The case took place in June 2022, but this Thursday the son of the victim decided to share the video of the robbery on social networks, promotes the British newspaper The Mirror.
Mark Titley was one of four paramedics called to help a 94-year-old woman who collapsed and passed out in her front yard. The warning was issued on 29 June 2022 in Shrewsbury, England. The team was unable to do anything to save the elderly woman and pronounced her dead on the spot.
A security camera captured the moment Mark Titley entered the elderly woman’s home, took out £60 (about €70) from a plastic box and pocketed the money. Realizing that he was being recorded, he put the money back.
The son of the deceased saw the images and, outraged by the attitude of the paramedic, reported the case to the authorities and posted the video on Facebook.
“While my mother was getting help from other paramedics, this happened,” the post reads.
Faced with allegations, the paramedic initially denied attempting the theft. He later confessed to the crime and was sentenced to 18 weeks of probation.
In addition to the sentence, Mark Titley will have to perform 120 hours of community service and pay the family of an elderly woman 187 pounds (about 215 euros).
