A GNR Coast Guard soldier had to be rescued this Sunday morning after the boat he was on to help a surfer broke down in the surf area at Cabedelo Beach, Figueira da Foz.
Around 9:30 am, the Coast Guard (UCC) received a call for help for a shipwrecked surfer, according to GNR. The soldier went on a Coast Guard ship to help a surfer with problems, and ended up falling into the water right in front of the sandy beach of Cabedelo. He will be thrown overboard by a strong excitement.
“Because this was a distress and rescue situation, the military officer on duty immediately went to the scene using the UCC vessel for this purpose. the ship’s engines stopped, the soldier fell overboard,” the GNR said in a statement.
According to CM, the soldier fell into the water in front of the beach.
The soldier was rescued by members of the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (ISN) and taken to an infirmary as a precaution.
