A shooting in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, US, left at least five people dead, including the shooter, and injured nine, the city’s police department said. Of the nine hospitalized victims, two are in critical condition, one of them is a police officer.
According to the agency Reuters, the shooter was mortally wounded on the spot. The suspect worked at a bank, writes the New York Post, citing police. According to the social network LinkedIn, 23-year-old Connor Sturgeon worked as a summer intern at a bank for three years. In 2021, he joined the company as a Business Development Specialist and became a full-time employee last year.
According to the authorities cited Reutersthe attacker was alive at the time of the attack.
Police have already identified four people killed by the attacker. Joshua Barrick, 40; Thomas Elliot, 63; Juliana Farmer, 45; and 64-year-old James Tutt died at the hands of Connor Sturgeon, according to ABC News.
The attack took place inside the Old National Bank, located on East Main Street, in downtown Louisville, and several witnesses who left the building told WHAS-TV that they heard gunshots inside.
