The North Korean leader pledged to improve the nuclear arsenal at a meeting with senior military officials to discuss preparations for war in the face of South Korean and US military exercises, the state news agency reported Tuesday.
Kim Jong-un got acquainted with the country’s offensive plans on the front line and various combat documents, and stressed the need to strengthen nuclear deterrence “faster, more practical and more offensive”, according to KCNA.
The ruling Workers’ Party’s Central Military Commission meeting on Monday came at a time of rising tensions, with North Korean weapons demonstrations and joint US-South Korean military exercises.
