The High Council of Magistracy of the Mozambique State Ministry has fired a provincial prosecutor for allegedly facilitating the release of a foreign national accused of international drug trafficking, the agency said in a statement.
The note also mentions that four justice officials were expelled on charges of facilitating the release of arrested defendants and archiving pending criminal proceedings.
“Because there are signs of a criminal offense, [o Conselho Superior da Magistratura do Ministério Público] ordered that copies of three disciplinary proceedings be seized and sent to the prosecutor’s office to initiate a competent criminal case “in relation to the objects,” the note adds.
