The non-profit organization Archive of Gun Violence distinguishes mass shooting, when at least four people are mortally wounded, not counting the shooter, from mass murder, when four or more people die in addition to the perpetrator.
In that sense, the United States (USA) has already recorded more than 140 mass shootings and 15 mass murders since the beginning of 2023, with US President Joe Biden criticizing Congressional Republicans for not changing the laws governing firearms ownership in the country.
