A 37-year-old man was detained by the GNR in the municipality of Murao, Evora district, on suspicion of stalking and assaulting his partner, pending an investigation on remand, as announced this Thursday.
A statement from the GNR Territorial Command of Évora indicated that the suspect was detained by soldiers from the Murão da Guarda Territorial Post last Saturday as part of a domestic violence case.
According to the GNR, during the process, the guards established that the aggressor had pursued his companion, a 46-year-old woman, even molested her in public places and even physically assaulted her.
He added that the guards “executed the arrest warrant, which resulted in the location and arrest of the alleged aggressor.”
The detainee was already present at the first judicial interrogation in the Regengos de Monsaraz judicial court, which applied the coercive measure of compulsory stay at home (house arrest).
However, as explained in the NDP report, the detainee will wait for the continuation of the investigation in pre-trial detention, since the conditions for applying a measure of restraint to him at the place of residence are not met.
