The U.S. Supreme Court this Friday temporarily suspended a lower court ruling that placed restrictions on access to abortion pills.
The stay is valid until Wednesday and is intended to allow the parties to present their case, the Supreme Court said after the US administration called for an urgent decision to prevent the previous decision, which took effect from Saturday, from taking effect.
At the heart of the legal battle is a decision last week by a trial judge in Texas, known for his ultra-conservative stance, who withdrew a 2000 authorization for mifepristone from the FDA.
