The government is presenting this Monday in Manteigas (Guarda district) the fire extinguishing device for this year, which will use 13,891 elements in the most critical months.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), during the period of the highest receipt of funds, from July 1 to September 30, the ground detachment will have 13,891 elements and 2,990 pieces of equipment.
In 2022, the number of operational workers involved in extinguishing fires over the same period amounted to 12,917 people, which means that another 974 elements were involved in extinguishing fires this year.
The same happens with available cars, which increase by 157, from 2833 cars to 2990.
The MAI communiqué did not provide figures for air resources, but the Air Force had previously indicated to Louse that the 2023 Special Rural Fire Control (DECIR) facility provided for 72 aircraft, 12 more than in previous years, but this number depends on the results of two open auctions.
On Saturday, the 2023 financial directive came into force, which establishes the contribution of the state to the costs arising from the intervention of fire brigades in various civil protection operational provisions, namely DECIR.
According to the financial directive, DECIR volunteer firefighters will receive 64 euros per day this year, three euros more than in 2022, while the daily contribution to command elements increases from 71 to 74.7 euros.
The document includes, among other things, the cost of volunteer firefighters for fuel, equipment, vehicles and food for personal protection.
Interior Minister José Luis Carneiro is chairing a public meeting this Monday to introduce DECIR, which is attended by Secretary of State for Civil Protection Patricia Gaspar and Secretary of State for Nature Conservation and Forestry John Paul Catarino.
