British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is under investigation for a possible conflict of interest by a parliamentary monitor of the behavior of British MPs, as it became known on Monday.
Parliamentary Conduct Commissioner Daniel Greenberg launched an investigation into Sunak last week, citing rules requiring MPs to be “open and honest” about their interests.
“Members must at all times be open and honest in declaring any relevant interests in any meeting of the House or its committees, as well as in any communications with ministers, members, civil servants or persons holding public office,” the commissioner’s website reads.
After the investigation became known, a spokesman for the prime minister said that Sunak would help the commissioner clarify the matter in a “transparent” manner.
This includes his wife Akshata Murphy’s minority stake in Koru Kids, which will receive the government’s recent financial support for kindergartens and childcare.
