The provincial government of Luanda (GPL) has set up a commission to curb juvenile delinquency in the Angolan capital, where 173 criminal gangs operate, it was announced on Tuesday.
The creation of the provincial commission was approved on Monday at the V regular session of the IDP, which approved other measures to address this issue, including a study of juvenile delinquency with a higher incidence in the Rastas district, in the municipality of Kilamba Kiaksi.
“173 gangs identified as social, violent and delinquent have been dismantled through police action, but their neutralization still requires multi-sectoral work,” the GPL said in a press release.
The meeting also served as an appraisal of the Commerce Reorganization Program, which was carried out on some of the city’s main thoroughfares to put an end to disorderly sales.
