Prosecutors this Thursday carried out some 60 searches in the north, center and outskirts of Lisbon to take down an alleged fraudulent VAT and IRC billing scheme that would have cost the state 7.5 million euros in damages.
According to information published this Thursday afternoon on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office (GPU), during the investigation conducted by the Main Directorate of the Investigation and Executive System (GUSIN), searches were directed to the execution of 16 residential buildings, 15 headquarters / enterprises in the prosecutor’s office commercial companies in the leather, catering and security sectors and 28 motor vehicles.
During the trial, 29 defendants were named, including 13 individuals – managers and administrators of companies and accountants – and 16 legal entities.
