The death toll in clashes in Sudan between the army and paramilitaries has risen to more than 600, including an International Organization for Migration (IOM) official, authorities and the UN agency said.
The clashes, which began on the 15th, are taking place between the army and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and according to Sudan’s Minister of Health, Ibrahim Hayzam, quoted by Al Arabya and Al Hadath TV channels, the areas most affected by the clashes are the capital Khartoum and the province of Northern Kordofan and Darfur.
The official said there were “large numbers” of corpses on the streets that could not be removed due to the intensity of the fighting, and warned that this posed a threat of an epidemic.
