On Monday afternoon, a fire broke out at a Volkswagen old car repair shop in Castelo da Maya, Porto. A 60-year-old man was treated for smoke poisoning but did not require hospitalization.

The fire that completely destroyed the old Volkswagen auto repair shop spread to three other warehouses. While the fire has now been contained, damage has been reported to some of the four neighboring houses.
National Road (EN) 14 has been closed to traffic since 5:47 p.m., fire alarm time, civil protection and GNR sources said. Traffic is diverted through the interior of Santa Maria de Avioso for those heading towards Trofa and back at Carrick Junction towards the Maya industrial estate, a Guarda source said.
The fire brigades of Pedrusos, Moreira da Maya, Matosinhos, Lesa and Leixos, with a total of 61 operators, are on site. The fire will now be investigated by the judicial police.
