A brutal three-vehicle collision this Saturday in Vale de Cambra has claimed the lives of two young people and seriously injured four people aged 21. António Pedro Gonçalves, aged 21, born in Vale Maceira, Lusa, a student of Engineering Computer Science at the University of Coimbra, and Ana Filipa Bastos, 23, born in Vale de Cambra, were the deadly victims of a brutal attack.
Around 18:30, the firefighters of Vale de Cambra and Oliveira de Azemeis received a traffic accident warning on the EN224 highway in Maceira de Cambra. Two ambulance and resuscitation teams were also mobilized. Upon arrival of the operatives, two prisoners had cardiac and respiratory arrest.
Resuscitation measures were nevertheless started, but the severity of the injuries could not stand. The deaths were confirmed by VMER teams.
GNR was called to the scene and began to cut the road in both directions. The Accident Crime Investigation Core of the GNR Aveiro investigates the causes of the accident.
The bodies were taken to the office of the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Feira. Two victims with serious injuries were taken to Gaia hospital. The rest were taken to a hospital in Feira.
