The President of the Assembly of the Republic makes an official visit to Ukraine on Tuesday and Wednesday, accompanied by deputies from the PS, PSD, IL and BE benches, but not from Chega or PCP.
“Today or tomorrow, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic Augusto Santos Silva, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation, is on an official visit to Ukraine. The Rada is the country’s legislative power,” his office said today.
The program of the visit to Kyiv “provides institutional meetings at the highest level, namely with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, with the Chairman of the Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk and with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.”
“A meeting with students of the Portuguese Faculty of the Faculty of Philology of Kyiv University is also planned,” the note adds.
The Office of the President of the Assembly of the Republic also informs that Santos Silva will be accompanied on this visit by a parliamentary delegation composed of deputies Eurico Brillante Díaz, from the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, Jorge Paulo de Oliveira, from the Parliamentary Group of the Social Democratic Party, João Cotrim de Figueiredo from the Parliamentary the Liberal Initiative group and Isabelle Pires of the Left Bloc parliamentary group.
Last week, the President of the Assembly of the Republic announced that he had excluded Chega, the third largest party, from delegations visiting foreign parliaments following an incident at Lula da Silva’s April 25 welcoming session.
