Foreign Minister Joao Gomes Cravinho is arriving in Angola on Tuesday to prepare for the prime minister’s visit to the country in June, with visits to Rwanda and Ethiopia also scheduled.
According to the communiqué of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEE), João Gomes Cravinho on Tuesday will lead the III Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Portugal and Angola to follow the development of bilateral relations and the application of the documents signed between the two countries in the meeting, which will also be dedicated to the official visit of Prime Minister António Coasts in June.
“The main topics of the regional and international agenda, the CPLP and the promotion of mobility between the two countries will also be on the agenda of this meeting”, in which Foreign Ministers Francisco André, do Mar, José This was announced in the Ministry of Maria Costa from the Department of Social Security Gabriel Bastos and from the Department of Agriculture, Goncalo Rodriguez.
Gomes Cravinho will meet in Luanda with his colleague Tete Antóniou and with Minister of State for Economic Coordination Manuel Nunez Junior, and the next day will travel to Rwanda, where economic development and commercials will also dominate the agenda.
The official, accompanied by a business delegation, will meet “public and private actors in Rwanda’s economic structure” and learn about the projects of Portuguese companies in the country.
The MNE notes that the visit “is aimed at giving a new impetus to economic ties between Portugal and Rwanda, with a focus on infrastructure and energy.”
In Rwanda, Gomes Cravinho will meet his Rwandan counterpart Vincent Biruta on Thursday, with whom he will exchange views on regional and international issues such as the situation in the Central African Republic, Mozambique and Sudan, and will also be received in Kigali by Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente.
It is planned to sign a number of documents in the fields of energy, internationalization and diplomatic training.
Gómez Cravinho Africa Week ends on May 5th when Addis Ababa, Ethiopia celebrates World Portuguese Language Day.
The Minister will participate in a seminar on “Portuguese Presence in International Organizations in Africa”, organized by the local group of ambassadors of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) member states with the support of the African Union Commission. .
At the seminar, Portuguese and international speakers will discuss the challenges and opportunities for promoting the Portuguese language in African and international multilateral architecture.
