Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday denied that his forces attempted to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin in a drone attack on the Kremlin that Moscow officials blamed on Kiev.
“We are not attacking Putin or Moscow, we are just fighting on our territory, protecting our villages and cities,” Zelensky said in Helsinki at a joint press conference with the leaders of Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland.
“We do not attack Putin, we leave it to the discretion of the court,” the head of the Ukrainian state said, referring to Ukraine’s efforts to find mechanisms by the international community to hold the Russian president accountable for military aggression against Ukraine.
