A Kenyan court on Thursday ordered the release on bail of religious leader Ezekiel Odero, who was arrested as part of an investigation into the activities of religious sects that allegedly led to the death of more than 100 believers.
According to the Agence France-Presse (AFP), Odereau, along with 17 others, was charged with “terrorism” but the court ruled that he be released against a proposal from a public ministry that defended that the leader of the Prayer and Church for a New Life remain in detention. 30 more days while the investigation is ongoing.
Investigators suspect members of his church were among the victims of the so-called “Shakahola Forest Massacre,” a case that makes headlines in this East African country, home to dozens of sects and cults.
