Republicans in the US Congress accuse Secretary of State Anthony Blinken of not cooperating with the investigation leading to the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, while the State Department claims to have provided the necessary information.
Republican House Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Michael McCall said in a letter that there was “not enough” information provided by the State Department over a cable in which several diplomats warned of a Taliban takeover of Kabul if the North American withdrawal was completed.
McCall gave Blinken until May 11 to provide the necessary information or he would initiate congressional contempt action.
