Guinea-Bissau’s Ministry of Finance has banned the use of public vehicles during the June 4 legislative election campaign, according to a press statement released this Monday.
“The National Secretariat for State Heritage, on behalf of the Minister of Finance, announces that all public vehicles are expressly prohibited from using in the election campaign and other services”, non-work related, can be read in the message reported. .
The Executive Director explains that the ban applies to government vehicles, including those assigned to projects, institutions and state-owned companies.
The legislative campaign is due to start on Saturday and end on June 2.
The Treasury also issued a dispatch last week explaining that the only campaign material that does not need to be cleared through customs is non-commercial value material, including T-shirts, posters and other political campaign items.
