This Wednesday, the Commander-in-Chief of the National Republican Guard defended updating the GNR military’s pay system to be in line with the “economic and social realities of the country”, saying the increase would have a “great impact” on recruitment.
“As Commander-in-Chief, I am well aware that much remains to be done,” said Lieutenant General José López dos Santos at a ceremony marking the 112th anniversary of the PPR, which was attended by the Minister of the Interior and a military parade with the release of representatives of various valences and means GNR.
In his speech at a ceremony this Wednesday morning at the Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon, the Commander-in-Chief said that it is necessary to “update the remuneration system, adapting it to the economic and social reality of the country, based on the justice system and has parallels with other state bodies”, arguing that it is “a factor that has a great influence on the processes of recruitment and retention of military and civilians.”
